I’m sure there’s a point in every woman’s life when she looks in the mirror and doesn’t like what she sees. Well I was no different. I have always had thin hair growing up and it was such a struggle to grow it out. I know the constant dying, straightening, blow drying did not help. It came to the point where I had to cut it all off and I was horrified. That’s when I decided to step into the world of hair extensions – but my horror story doesn’t end there…
I had always used clip in extensions here and there but they were such a hassle and I wanted something permanent. I asked around where to get hair extensions done and had a hard time finding someone who worked with my hair type. Then an lady I knew said she would do it for me for a cheap price and I thought I could trust her because her mother owned a salon. Huge mistake. I should’ve never chosen someone just because they offered a cheap price. It cost me so much more than if I would have invested in someone who was actually certified to do extensions and actually cared about the integrity of my hair. To continue on, not only did she not install them properly, nor give me any hair care/maintenance advice, she moved to a different state – leaving me helpless and uneducated with the new extensions.
It wasn’t until 3 months later, lot’s of pieces ripped out, and a huge mat on the back of my head that I finally went and seen a specialist to have the extensions removed. Let’s just say my hair was left much worse than what I started with – which wasn’t much… After letting my hair take a break, doing hours of research, educating myself, and talking with a professional I decided to give extensions one more chance – mainly because I was desperate to feel confident about my hair again.
